Managing a campaign for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio, so much of my time and energy goes into my daily workouts in the gym, practice on the water and yoga for mental strength but this time of year reality always smacks me in the face.
Being only 15, and a Sophomore in highschool I am also dedicated to my education. After all, I do want to go to college after I win in Rio! So I figured that this is a good time to talk about my education and how that fits into my complex sailing life.
I am a Sophomore at the Florida Virtual School. Being Virtual, it is true that I do all of my work on the Internet. I am not however homeschooled as many people assume. The biggest difference is that I have teachers in all of my classes (I am taking all honors classes by the way), have daily assignments that I have to turn in and I take tests just like everyone else my age. The only difference is that many times I am in school at ten o-clock at night or when I am sitting in my hotel in Australia.
I take pride in my schooling and work hard to earn the best grades I can. Virtual schooling is challenging and keeps me constantly focusing on the importance that education plays in my life! Without Florida Virtual School, I would not be able to train the way I do and travel to the regattas I need to attend in order to achieve my Olympic goals.
By the way, the photo on top of this post; it is the graphic that is on the back of my Tahoe and will travel with me to all of the regattas I drive to! If you want to see your company log get exposure along with my 4 year campaign for Olympic honors, take a look at my Sponsors page!
