While I am starting to prepare to head South for a long winter of training (which will include finding a full-time partner for the campaign), my primary focus right now is on the F18 World Championship regatta, which I am sailing with New England sailor Blair Tolland.
While we will only have the Canadian National Championships and a few days in LA to train together for this regatta, I’m confident we’ll be able to pull off a respectable finish at Worlds. Luckily, both Blair and I have recently trained with Red Gear Racing (at separate events) and Robbie Daniels will be able to give us some pointers on sailing together at Canadian Nationals in Kingston, Ontario.
The registration list at Worlds looks exciting, with sailors from several America’s Cup teams and other top names in the multihull community (see the list at http://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt/applet_registrant_list.php?regatta_id=5255&custom_report_id=66). This is going to be an awesome opportunity to put my top performance in front of some of the strongest competition I’ve ever seen in my life. This may just go down as one of the biggest development opportunities of the entire year!
If you don’t know Blair, his profile on Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/blair.toland.
Make sure to watch our results at CORK and at Worlds. I’m sure it’s going to be amazing!
