After having a breakfast meeting with Coaches Robbie Daniels and Leandro Spina yesterday morning, I realized that I need to focus more on the here and now and less on my plans of the next few years.

I sail because it is fun.  I can’t imagine anything more fun than being on a boat and finding ways to go fast (and making mistakes along the way that create great stories).  Sailing on a catamaran is just that more fun because of the speed, the height (when we are about to capsize) and the challenge of having so much power in the huge sails on my boat!  When I wake up each morning I smile because of the thrill I have just being out on the water.

You all know my long term goals, just look at the name of this Website; but I know that I have to focus on what is in front of me.  Right now that means that I need to find a full-time partner that wants to have as much fun as I do on the boat so that we can have a ball this summer and then win the US Sailing Youth Champs in August.  Plain and simple, without having fun on the boat there is no reason to win, because it would be a meaningless victory.

I am talking to many of the sailors I know to find someone that wants to sail a catamaran in Youth Champs.  It is a difficult decision for them because pretty much everyone I know has never seen an F16 let alone sailed on one.  So they are not sure they will like it or if they will be able to do well on the boat.  The one thing I keep telling them is that the boat is a lot of fun and that is the number one most motivating factor making me want to do it more! Winning regattas and everything that goes along with that is just a bonus because the real prize is just being able to be out on the water having the time of my life!
