For years top dinghy youth from around the country hooked up their trailers and packed up their gear to head to Sail Newport in the heart of USA competitive sailing, Newport, Road Island!
For the first time, Sail Newport has added the high-performance catamaran (Formula 16) to their list of supported fleets at this prestigious event. The F16 class is the development class for the Olympic Nacra 17 Catamaran which was added to the Games starting in Rio 2016. This coupled with the excitement behind the Extreme 40 series around the globe, the America’s Cup and the Ameirca’s Cup World Series have all added to the excitement and global interest in high performance catamarans and the F16 is a perfect boat to enjoy the speed, power and excitement of apparent wind sailing!
I started sailing Viper F16’s a little more than a year ago and am currently campaigning to win the 2014 ISAF Youth World Championships in Portugal which will then lead to me winning the US Trials for Rio in 2016! I have to say that from the first time I jumped onto this boat I have been in love with everything it offers. The amazing speed and power produced by this platform is addictive, being able to sail up and down wind at speeds above what nature intends puts a smile on my face every day!
I am thrilled that they have added Catamarans to the BROOKE E. GONZALEZ ADV. RACING CLINIC and am looking forward to getting on the water in Newport in June! The clinic is the 13th – 16th at Sail Newport.
If you want more information about the clinic and other F16 sailing opportunities in New England, check this out. To apply for the clinic at Sail Newport in any class visit their site.
To make my trip to New England more exciting, I am also sailing in an additional clinic at Bristol Yacht Club immediately following the Brooke Gonzalez and then racing in a regatta at BYC, so I will be in New England sailing F16’s from June 13-23. You should absolutely come and get on the water with us. I promise it will be the most excitement you have ever had on a boat!
Yes, I sail a lot. My goals are high and I will stop at nothing to achieve them! It is all expensive and I am paying my way with donations from awesome people and companies that want to see young, hard working teens accomplish monumental tasks! Will you please help out with a $10 contribution to my campaign? I will put your name on my supporters page, or you can stay anonymous. Either way your support will help bring gold medals back to the Sailing in the USA!
